Search Engine Optimisation (SEO)

SEO is the process where you try and get a website higher up the search engines through natural search listings. Natural searches are not to be confused with the paid for adverts usually found on the right of listings.

If you don’t already know it internet search engine marketing is changing the way prospects look for products/services. It is now critical businesses have good SEO.  

So you now realise that you need to be up in the search engines to gain business traffic and are looking for an SEO company to partner with. You now need to make a very important decision. You have to work out who to trust in an area you probably do not know much about. If you are looking for an honest, direct and straight forward SEO company then your search is at an end. We will not blind you with science just keep it simple and straight forward.

The reason you want to be top of the search engines is to gain more traffic to your site which then gives you more business. You don’t want to be top of the search engines just to be top of the search engines if there is no business gain.

We are not interested in mass market SEO. We only want a limited number of quality clients that we can work closely with.

No one can guarantee the No. 1 slot as they have no idea if there is going to be a change in the algorithm or the way Google ranks a site, search term keyword patterns change, know how entrenched the competitors are, what PR competitors have on order and what plans competitors have that they are executing in the next 6-12 months. It is unethical and not justifiable. Anyone that gives you a guarantee should be shown the door. We know first hand these guarantees are worthless but sometimes we all have to learn the hard way.

Our simple tips are :

  1. Do not sign any finance lease agreements for this service. This is where the SEO company gets all the money up front and you have to pay for 3 years if they produce the results or not to a leasing company.

  2. Don’t believe any guarantees whatever the promised refund or return. What is a guarantee worth when so many factors can be used to deflect the blame or explain a lack of results.

  3. Be realistic if you spend an amount per month then only so much work can be done on your site. Some SEO companies take on too many customers and cannot give them the service they need. Being months behind with work is a good indicator or not even responding with a proposal promptly is another. If you spend £450 per month then how many hours can be spent on your site. If its UK labour rates then probably only a day per month maximum. You need to know how many hours or days per month you are getting and whats being done. The amount of time that can be spent on your SEO will have a direct effect on the results.

  4. Single words like “florist” would take a lot of time, effort, money and thinking out the box. You need to think hard is it really what you want. If you are a flower shop in Knutsford then “flowers Knutsford” is the phrase you should be after or “wedding flowers Knutsford”. i.e. do you want the traffic from some phrases.

  5. Does your SEO company provide proper reporting and analysis? This the only thing that shows how well the site is doing. In the absence of results you need to be able to see how the time has been spent on your site.

  6. Make sure the keywords are relevant to you while planning internet marketing strategy. If you offer luxury holidays then “cheap holidays” is not the phrase you may want to get traffic under.

We are clear on what we offer and we may be too honest for our own sales but this is the way we prefer to do business. Over time we will become a trusted business partner if we do not know each other already.
